As 2022 comes to an end, Mycosortia team would like to do a humble reflection on what we have achieved in 2022.
In December last year, 2021, the idea of Mycosortia was formed in the Zero Waste and Circular Economy Conference organized by BioEnergy Society of Singapore. As a result, Mycosortia was incorporated in Mar 2022.
In the same month, Mar 2022, Mycosortia joined Cohort 2022 of Innovate 360 Accelerator Program. Thanks to John Cheng, Sean Mak and the team for inviting and accepting us. Multiple workshops and site visits were organized by Innovate 360, which are very beneficial to startup founders, like us. With this involvement, Mycosortia got to know a lot of food tech startups in Singapore and gained a better understanding of food tech startup ecosystem in Singapore.
In July 2022, we were interviewed by Big Idea Ventures and accepted to join BIV’s Cohort 6 Accelerator Program. With this, Mycosortia received our pre-seed fund and was incubated at Life Science Incubator to jump start our project. As a result, functional protein powder FibProtTM was developed out of okara, the byproduct of soymilk, and it was registered. Multiple food prototypes were developed.
On 25 August 2022, Mycosortia participated Food Tech Deal Friday organized by Enterprise Singapore and Accelerating Asia together with other nine food tech startups. At the event, for the first time we pitched our technology to event participants and investors.
In September 2022, we secured okara supply from two local major okara producers. In the same time, we also secured wheat bran supply from an MNC. Such partnerships will be formalized and announced in 2023.
On 1st Dec 2022, Mycosortia participated BIV Cohort 6 Demo Day. At this event, we pitched our technology and for the first time, we exhibited our FibProtTM and food prototypes derived from FibProtTM.
Time is flying very fast and year 2022 has been quite a busy year. A lot of things are still ongoing. In the coming year, 2023, we will move to a new facility to test-bed our technology, develop more partnerships and expedite the commercialization of our technology. Mycosortia is prepared to overcome more challenges and achieve more milestones in 2023.
In our short journey in 2022, many people have helped and supported us, including our investors, mentors, partners, fellow startup founders, friends and colleagues.
